We are open!

We’re thrilled to announce the opening of the Houston SPCA Pet Wellness Clinic, dedicated to serving the beloved pets of our community. Our clinic is committed to delivering top-notch yet affordable veterinary care for your furry companions, encompassing essential vaccinations and preventatives.

As of now, our services encompass vaccinations, preventatives, and online pharmacy services (coming soon). However, we do not currently offer veterinary care for injured or unwell pets, nor do we provide spaying or neutering services. Stay connected with us through social media for the latest updates on our Pet Wellness Clinic as we work diligently to expand our offerings in the near future.

Veterinary Partnerships

Our teaching program provides veterinary students with a broad range of high-quality training experiences, under expert supervision, to ensure that they are well prepared for the variety of challenges they will face as practicing veterinarians

A Partnership Designed to Inspire the Future

By serving as a teaching hospital for Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, we aim to provide extraordinary training by immersing future veterinarians in the operation of an animal welfare organization with a tremendous scope of services. In addition, the program is also designed to help educate and inspire future veterinarians to actively participate in service to their communities through shelter medicine and animal welfare activities.

How it works

All fourth-year veterinary students are required to participate in a two-week, graded rotation on Houston SPCA’s campus. Members of our veterinary staff serve as adjunct faculty, and more than 170 veterinary students train on our campus every year, honing their clinical expertise. They work with over 380 species, gain experience working with high-volume caseloads and learn valuable lessons about animal welfare and community service.

How it helps our community

Future veterinarians gain hands-on experience in surgery, emergency care, triage, cruelty and rescue forensics, disaster relief, herd/population management, wildlife rehabilitation, and much more. As a result of the partnership, these students will be more knowledgeable about the full spectrum of animal treatment and welfare – including rescue and forensics investigations — and will thus be better equipped to respond to community needs.

Thank you to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for their support of this program!
