We are open!

We’re thrilled to announce the opening of the Houston SPCA Pet Wellness Clinic, dedicated to serving the beloved pets of our community. Our clinic is committed to delivering top-notch yet affordable veterinary care for your furry companions, encompassing essential vaccinations and preventatives.

As of now, our services encompass vaccinations, preventatives, and online pharmacy services (coming soon). However, we do not currently offer veterinary care for injured or unwell pets, nor do we provide spaying or neutering services. Stay connected with us through social media for the latest updates on our Pet Wellness Clinic as we work diligently to expand our offerings in the near future.

Houston SPCA celebrates continuing partnership with Pets for the Elderly Foundation

Pets for the Elderly grant sends home over 100 pets in 2021

Houston SPCA is excited about the ongoing partnership with the Pets for the Elderly Foundation. In 2021, Houston SPCA found homes for 111 cats, dogs, puppies, and kittens with senior citizens through this program, with plans to surpass that number in 2022.

The Foundation’s mission is to provide companionship to senior individuals through pet ownership while saving the lives of companion animals in shelters. The Foundation pays fees to participating animal shelters throughout the United States for senior citizens (age 60 and over) who adopt a companion dog or cat from a participating shelter – including pre-adoption veterinary exams and spay/neuter if part of the adoption fee. At Houston SPCA, they fund a portion of the adoption fees up to $50 per pet!

If you are interested in adopting a pet through this program, please find that perfect furry family member at our Adoption Center and mention Pets for the Elderly when sitting with your Adoption Counselor.

Over 100 Pets Connected with Seniors in 2021 with Pets for the Elderly Grant

Claire and Mike Vackar adopted Axel, formerly known as Teddy, in February 2022.

“He has added so much joy to our lives, especially in a time of grief and sorrow, as I lost two family members in 2021,” Claire said.

Axel is still a puppy at just nine months of age and is full of shenanigans that bring lots of laughter to his new family. He is affectionate and loves going for walks. As is the case with most tri-paws, he has adjusted to life on three legs quickly!
