We are open!

We’re thrilled to announce the opening of the Houston SPCA Pet Wellness Clinic, dedicated to serving the beloved pets of our community. Our clinic is committed to delivering top-notch yet affordable veterinary care for your furry companions, encompassing essential vaccinations and preventatives.

As of now, our services encompass vaccinations, preventatives, and online pharmacy services (coming soon). However, we do not currently offer veterinary care for injured or unwell pets, nor do we provide spaying or neutering services. Stay connected with us through social media for the latest updates on our Pet Wellness Clinic as we work diligently to expand our offerings in the near future.

We give horses and donkeys a fighting chance.

As the city’s original and largest animal protection organization, the Houston SPCA is well known for the rescue, care, and adoption of thousands of companion animals each year, but our lifesaving work with animals began with rescuing horses nearly 100 years ago.

These days, The Houston SPCA rescues 400-600 horses annually through cruelty investigation, and we normally have more than 60 horses in care on any given day — most of which have never known kind hands or adequate care and training. We also collaborate with other equine rescue groups across the state when they cannot place animals in adoptive homes.  The new Dr. Amy Alexander Equine Care Center includes a covered rescue arena, round pen, seven paddocks, and a 26-stall barn.

Our highly-trained and dedicated Barn Team spends months rehabilitating horses medically and nutritionally and we train once-neglected and abused animals so they will have the best and brightest futures possible as we work to help them become safe, loving companions. Houston SPCA works hard to match adopters to the horses’ skill levels, placing more forgiving horses with people who are still learning how to care for one.
